John Peter Boyes

August 29, 1937 ~ August 27, 2017 (age 79) 79 Years Old

JOHN PETER BOYES; beloved husband of Nancy Boyes passed away Sunday, August 27th, two days before his 80th birthday.

Born in Lanarkshire, Scotland, the only child of Bridget and John Boyes.  John & Nancy married in July 1958 and together they had seven children.  John was the loving father of Gerard, Thomas, Frances- Mary, Dominic, Peter, Allison and Lee. Left to celebrate his life along with Nancy and his children are his five grandsons: Scot, Calum, Clark, Brae and Tavish and Son –in- Law Jeff Vucurevich.

The Boyes’ immigrated to Canada in 1975, spending 25 years in Regina Saskatchewan before John retired in 1996 and he and Nancy moved to Lethbridge.

A man of constant occupation; he seemed to only sit still when the day was done and a well-earned dram was at hand. Though he had several entrepreneurial endeavours in his life; including bus driver, mortician, and Bingo Hall owner, he spent the bulk of his years working with machines. As a Heavy Duty Mechanic for the Saskatchewan Power Corporation, he traveled the entire expanse of the prairie province and took pride in the fact that he had been to every civilized corner. Never one to remain idle, John continued to work part time at Charlton Hill in Lethbridge until graciously accepting the life of a retiree. Which only allowed him more time to devote his meticulous attention to everything he owned, especially his car and RV.

A man of strong faith, he was always involved with his church and helping others. He prayed every day, and kept several reminders of his Lord close at hand. His humour and good nature will be remembered and cherished by family and friends who loved him dearly.  He relished in golfing, long walks, Scottish Country Dancing and travelling the open road; as well as spending time with his grandsons, and his pals Rotten Ronnie & Johnnie Walker.

Armed with his tartan bonnet and a spring in his step, John made an unforgettable impression wherever he went. He possessed strength, perseverance and a contagious sense of humour. He will be greatly missed, fondly remembered and never forgotten.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the St. Vincent De Paul Society, 2405-12 Avenue South, Lethbridge, T1K 0P
