It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Gerard (Gerry) Antonius Peters of Lethbridge, Alberta after a battle with cancer.

Gerry lived in Lethbridge for most of his life after immigrating to Canada in 1968 from Heerlen, Netherlands. Gerry had numerous friends and acquaintances and was well known for telling jokes and making people laugh, right up until his last day.

Gerry is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Martha Peters; his children, Mike (Arlana) Peters, Renee (Juergen) Hauschildt, Dimetri Peters; 4 grandchildren Laura and Bryan Peters, Skye Hauschildt and Kelsea Peters and in the Netherlands; his brother, Antony Peters and his sister, Gertrude Luenissen as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Gerry was predeceased by his brothers, Theodore Peters, Jacob Peters, Herman Peters of Holland and Sophia Zorenc of Lethbridge, Alberta.

The family wishes to express their heartfelt thanks to the doctors, nurses and caregivers of Chinook Regional Hospital and the Jack Ady Cancer Centre, for their unwavering, compassionate care to Gerry.

A Memorial Service will be held on Friday June 17, 2016, 2p.m. at Evergreen Funeral Chapel, 327-10 St S Lethbridge.

In lieu of flowers, the family ask that donations be made to the Chinook Regional Hospital Foundation, Jack Ady Cancer Centre.
