In Loving Memory of Eva "Eleanor" Baslar
We are saddened to announce the passing of Eva “Eleanor” Baslar, beloved wife of the late Ervin Baslar, who passed away peacefully at St. Therese Villa in Lethbridge, Alberta on February 11, 2022, at the age of 95 years after a lengthy battle with alzheimer’s disease. She is survived by her daughter Brenda Pepin, Grandsons Dwayne (Tracey) Pepin, and Darren (Dana) Pepin, all of Lethbridge. In addition, she is also survived by her Great-Grandchildren Brendan, Evan, Emily and Michael Pepin, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Eva was born in the Gooding district near Glen Bain, Saskatchewan on June 22, 1926. She was the youngest child of Johann and Hermina Brenner. Eva was predeceased by both of her parents and her seven siblings, John, Anton, Margaret, Mary, Barbara (Annie), Elizabeth (Betty), and Kathleen (Katie).
She married Ervin in the mid 1940’s and they settled in the Bateman/Gravelbourg, Saskatchewan area where they took up farming. The couple later relocated east of Claresholm, Alberta in 1965 where they bought their first farm. They farmed near Claresholm for a number of years before retiring and moving to Lethbridge in the early 1990’s.
Eva was a vibrant, outgoing person who loved to cook, bake and host regular family gatherings whenever she could. She also enjoyed playing cards and attending bingo with her friends and family. Eva was a long-time member of the St. Basil’s Catholic Women’s League of Canada.
At Eva’s request, no formal funeral service will take place.
