With heavy hearts and fond memories, we say goodbye to Graham Hames, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. Graham, known for his warm smile and hearty laugh, was born on March 13, 1944, and left us on August 27, 2024.
Graham and his wife, Valerie, shared 60 wonderful years together, creating a lifetime of cherished memories. He was a devoted father to: Sue (Tom) Beatty, Kelly Krill, and Wendi (Dave) Legge. He took immense pride in his four grandchildren: Aimee (Joe) Boxer, Joel (Danielle) Beatty, Braeden and Brooklyn Legge. And let’s not forget “His Girls,” his two great-granddaughters, Ashton and Reese, who brought him endless joy.
Also remembering him are his brother Dave (Shirley) and nieces Diane and Tracey. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jim and Hilda, and his nephew Dean.
Graham was also the steadfast supporter of his wife Valerie’s dreams. Together, they turned Plant and Flower Magic into a blooming success in 1982, followed by Silks Alive in 1987, all while raising English Bulldogs. Graham was a conductor with CPR Rail until he retired 25 years ago, setting the stage for his next grand act: trading snow for sunshine in Arizona.
A master of happy hours, conversations ending in debates, and the occasional horse race, Graham’s zest for life and infectious spirit will be deeply missed but never forgotten. His laughter and love have left an indelible mark on all who knew him.
Though we will miss him dearly, we find comfort in knowing that Graham's spirit will forever live on in our hearts and in the countless stories we share. Rest in peace, Graham, and thank you for the beautiful journey you gave us all. At Dads request there will be no funeral service. Instead, we ask that you raise your glass and give a toast to an incredible man!
“Here’s to you, Graham—may your next adventure be as joyful as the life you lived.”
We Love You!
