Hubert "Hubie" Kenneth Bryan

Hubert “Hubie” Kenneth Bryan of Lethbridge passed away on Monday, March 23, 2020 at the age of 83 years.

Besides his loving wife Christine, Hubert is survived by his brother, Alfred (Elsa) Bryan from Colwood BC as well as Christine’s five children and their families.

He was predeceased by his parents Harold and Antonia Bryan and brother George Bryan.

As a consequence of his mother’s illness and related family separation, Hubert was raised without knowledge of his biological family. In 1996, efforts by his brother Alfred, brought about a reunion that led to many happy family visits.

Hubert married Christine Cohen on December 24, 1977. They were married for 43 years.  In their time together they traveled to Christine’s homeland of Greece and did a lot of camping. 

Hubert loved to fish, and it was well known that he would inch over to another fisherman to take his spot over if the other fellow was catching fish. He loved opera and had a very good voice. He loved to sing opera in church especially, and loved the hymns. He liked to dabble in woodwork and cabinetry and gardened a fair bit. Hubert was employed at Consolidated Concrete until they closed the business.

Hubert and Christine lived a simple life, residing in Lethbridge during their marriage and till his passing. Though he did not have children of his own, he was blessed to “inherit” Christine’s family by way of marriage. 

There will be no formal services as requested by the family. Hubert’s ashes will be spread on his favorite fishing area in the coming summer. 

Both Hubert and his mother lived with mental illness. Donations may be made to the Schizophrenia Society, 234 12b St N, Lethbridge, AB T1H 2K7.
