With our deepest sadness, we announce the passing of our beloved Mom at the age of 91.
Jean was born to Henry and Mary Fraser in Taber, AB. She was raised and lived the remainder of her life in Lethbridge, Alberta.
She was predeceased by her husband Bill Vair, Jean's parents, her sister Josephine, and brothers, Harold, and Allen.
Jean is survived by her children, David Vair, Linda (Fred) Chomiak, Judy (Stan) Cohen, and Pat Seebeck, eight grandchildren, and numerous great-grandchildren.
She loved her dogs, jigsaw puzzles, reading, soap operas, and listening to the kids play at the park. She enjoyed garage sales, camping, birthday parties, and hosting holiday dinners.
Jean was a caregiver, helping to raise some of her nephews and grandchildren. She loved playing with her great grandchildren, whether it be tossing a ball or just simply giggling along with them. She always had ice cream treats for everyone.
She worked at the laundry, trailer factories, and was handy with tools, helping family with fix-it projects, and building her own shed in the backyard.
Jean was a talented crocheter, making ornaments, tablecloths, and dolls with extraordinary detail. Always crafting, she made pixie dolls with satin clothing, and Barbie doll clothes for her daughters. We will always remember the turtle and alligator tv cushions she made from remnants.
Jean was very independent, yet could strike up a conversation with anyone she met, and valued very close friendships throughout her life. She bought vinegar by the gallon for her weeds and didn't hesitate to treat all wounds with Listerine.
She will be deeply missed by us all.
A private graveside service has been held. In lieu of flowers, buy yourself a cherry sundae, Jean's favourite.
