After fighting a courageous battle with cancer, Linda passed away peacefully in Lethbridge, Alberta with her family by her side.
Linda was born in Wainwright, Alberta. In the fall of 1969, her parents, Harold & Mary Dyck relocated the family to Lethbridge. Here the family settled in and planted their roots. Mary was a Polio survivor dedicated to her family, while Harold was a long-haul trucker. Upon his retirement, he embraced his passion for baking pies and sold them at local farmers markets.
Linda's parents created a strong foundation that she carried throughout her life, dedicating herself to her own family with great passion and zeal. Linda spent the majority of her working career in the Service Industry. The last 16 years were spent working at Little Ceasars, where she fully intended to return after winning her cancer battle. She loved working with people and was loved by her customers in return.
When Linda met Shawn and he won her heart, they decided to get married. Building their life together gifted them with three wonderful boys, Justin, Tanner and Brandon.
While the marriage did not last, their friendship did. This allowed them to continue creating a strong foundation for the boys. Shawn and Linda continued to do things together with the boys, raising them together to the best of their ability. Because of this dedication to the family they created, they each held a special place in their hearts for each other.
Linda fought a hard battle with cancer but made sure it never got into her way of living her best life. She was a fierce lady who would never back down to any obstacle that got in her way. This included the difficult decision not to do a second round of treatment, instead choosing an alternate path. This path gave Linda the opportunity to regain some freedom and fulfill a few more things on her bucket list!
In the last year, she made sure to share experiences with her precious family which has grown to include her daughter-in-law, Kendall, as well as her three grandsons, Tate, Jaxton, and Kentyn.
An entire day was spent in Waterton creating memories that Linda shared with everyone whom she could tell. There was a road trip to Rimbey, Alberta, to pick up her sister as they journeyed to Macklin, Saskatchewan to see where her mom was born. A trip to Vancouver, BC, was in the works as it was a dream trip Linda wanted to share with her boys. Sadly, it did not come to pass but plans are in the works to complete this trip and honor Linda as she would have loved.
Linda is survived by her sister Helen (Ryan) Jalbert, brothers Dale Dyck,Ron (Shar) Dyck, Dwayne Dyck, Sheldon (Jen) Dyck, sons Justin Gustum, Tanner (Kendall) Dyck, and Brandon Dyck.
She was also survived by her three grandsons Tate Ockerman, Jaxton Gustum, and Kentyn Gustum. Of all the boys in her life, these three were her favorite, the absolute light in her world. They will always remember baking banana bread and the love found in her Grandma hugs.
Linda is going to be greatly missed by many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and her numerous “work children”.
Linda was predeceased by her parents Harold and Mary Dyck, along with her brother Bruce Dyck. There is no doubt they welcomed her home with loving and open arms.
Because of her great zest for life, iced tea, all things Mickey Mouse, and huge loving heart ~ Linda is going to be deeply missed by everyone who knew and loved her.
