Michelle Lynn Macdonald was born to Heather (Stewart) MacDonald, and Wayne MacDonald in St. James, Manitoba on January 7, 1968. She lived in Calgary, Newmarket, Grand Marais, and Lethbridge.
Michelle had a love for all animals, especially cats, fish and rabbits. She often took care of stray cats who adopted her as mom and moved right in. Michelle is the type of woman to see a bird with a broken wing, and hand feed it in her garage until she found it a new home. Michelle had an excellent green thumb and was often reached out to on plant advice. She maintained an immaculate garden and would always lend a hand to neighbours.
Quick with a laugh and smile and would give her shirt off her back to help. You would often hear her say "oh my chickens" with a giggle after. She loved serving the residents from Martha’s House and would go out of her way to buy, make, and set up decorations for holiday celebrations.
Michelle was well known for her creativity and always had a craft on the go; drawing, colouring, painting, diamond dotting, crocheting and knitting. She annually donated handmade toques to the Chinook Hospital newborn unit and homeless shelter. She had a knack for design and staging spaces, often re-arranging rooms when visiting.
Michelle passed peacefully in her sleep on Sunday, July 27, 2025 and is survived by daughter Kaylee, mother Heather, siblings: Andrew, Brendan, Christa, Cindy, Ryan, nephews: Ezra, Chilaka and Cooper. Michelle was proud of her daughter and the adult she became, always saying it was her greatest accomplishment.
A celebration of Michelle's life will be held on Thursday, August 7, 2025 from 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm at the Rocky Mountain Turf Club, 5th floor.
