Hello world,  this is Peter!

Hello Peter,  this is world! I’m off to my great reward but before I go sports fans, I have a few things to say . . .

From my early beginnings in eastern Canada to my big move out west, I have had many wonderful adventures! The greatest of all began on Feb 1, 1969 when I married Susan Giguère, my strong, patient, and loving wife of 56 years. My greatest pride and joy has been raising our four children Stephanie, Myles, Alicia and Megan with whom I have shared so much laughter. I am deeply thankful for having a friendship with each of my son-in-laws Dan (Stephanie), Scott (Alicia) and Brent (Megan) and the good fortune of playing an important role in my ELEVEN grandchildren’s lives. Allow me to introduce them in their birth order: Brittany Caldwell, Ben McDonald, Wyatt McDonald, Ryan Mooney, Evannlee Rennie, Nathan Mooney, Wesley Cummins, Olivia Mooney, Isla Cummins, Ella Mooney and Molly Mooney.

My children have asked that I share some of my words of wisdom with all you sports fans out there. Here are a few of my tried and true:

-If you are going to be in the parade, you may as well lead it!

-The only thing you can do wrong is to do nothing at all!

-If we were all the same, it would be a pretty boring world!

-Leave a little for the next guy!

-Your most valuable possession is your time because you never know how much of it you have.

And on that note, I’ve  lived a good life, 78 years, 11 months and 17 days to be exact, and my work here is done.

Beam me up Scotty! 

A note of gratitude from the family : 

Thank you to Dr. Strank, Dr. Shukkoor, Dr. Haner, Homecare RN Dyan, the staff at St. Mike’s Palliative Care Center: RNs Renee, Lorina, Josh, Raphael, Mandy and Eileen, and Dad’s care team Brenda, Sheena, Ilja, Joanne, Chrissandra, Crystal, Sherry and Louis. Our apologies if we have missed a name, please know that your care for our Dad is appreciated beyond words. 

In keeping with Dad’s  wishes, there will be no formal service. In time, our family will gather for a trip back east to lay Dad to rest in his childhood playground, Port Severn, Ontario. In lieu of flowers or donations, please help  keep Dad’s legacy alive by appreciating  the beauty of spring’s arrival, anticipating the season’s first robin, and spreading joy through practicing generosity and random acts of kindness.
