Thomas (Tom) Edward Ellis, born on June 23, 1942, in England, peacefully passed away on September 10, 2023, at St. Michael’s Health Centre in Lethbridge, Alberta, after a short and courageous battle with cancer.
He enjoyed a remarkable, six-decade-long career in the transportation industry, where he earned recognition as a skilled driver, efficient logistics coordinator, and accomplished commodities broker in Calgary and Lethbridge. Tom retired from this industry and moved to Pincher Creek to be closer to the mountains.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Tom was an adventurer at heart, particularly drawn to the vast landscapes of Northern Canada. He and his wife were avid campers, especially along the stunning West Coast of BC, the Yukon, the NWT, and the USA. He would often regale family and friends with stories of their journeys, finding humor, joy, and inspiration along the way. Over his lifetime, Tom developed a deep and abiding passion for trains, trucks, log homes, and BBQing.
Tom leaves behind three loving children, Shannon (Graham) Smith, Mark Ellis, and Scott (Twyla) Ellis along with his six adored grandchildren: Aedyn, Macklin, Cameron, Riley, Jackson, and Emma. He is survived by his siblings, George (Pat) Ellis and Linda (Ed) McLaren, as well as nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his beloved wife, Lois (nee Hatlelid).
Tom's legacy is one of hard work, dedication, and a profound appreciation for life's simple joys. His memory will be cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
In lieu of flowers pleased consider a donation be made to the Alberta Cancer Foundation. A small gathering to celebrate Tom’s life will be organized at a later date.
