The world lost a beautiful soul on Oct. 31st, when Vivian Wallinder passed away peacefully after a battle with colon cancer. Consensus among her 3 daughters is that she was the best Mom ever. Granny was loved dearly by her 4 granddaughters, and 5 great grandchildren, who all called her GG. She loved her sons in law like they were her children, and they in turn loved her. She was a favorite aunt to her nieces and nephews. Vivian was a very social person, and made friends easily. She loved a party and never missed an opportunity to attend a function or an event. It didn’t matter how she was feeling, if something was happening she was going to be there.
Our wonderful Mom was born in Hillcrest, Alberta in 1932. She was raised there, married Raymond Wallinder in 1951, and their 3 daughters were born there. She always called Hillcrest home. Wherever Vivian went, she made friends – they lived in Grande Cache and Calgary before moving to Lethbridge in 1993. Vivian was a resident at West Highlands Care Center, where she was well cared for by the staff, and in her usual manner, became a friend to many of the residents.
Vivian was predeceased by her husband, Raymond, her parents, John and Beatrice McDade, and all of her siblings. She is survived by her 3 daughters , Della Giacomuzzi (Laren), Debra Caron (Paul), and Diane Karperien (Gerry), 4 granddaughters, Amanda Audenaert, Sheena Audenaert, Jenelle Bond (Brandon) and Rebecca Llewellyn (Dylan). The 5 great grandchildren – Sean Lidster, Emmett, Hazel, Lily and Finley Bond never failed to bring a smile to her face.
